Frequently Asked Questions

All Bali Soap body care products and natural soap are handmade in Bali, Indonesia. We make all of our products from scratch and are aware of everything that goes into each item. We use quality plant-based oils for their moisturizing properties. All of our bar soaps contain base oils of palm and coconut oil. Coconut oil is used for its lathering boost of big, fluffy, white bubbles. Palm oil is used for its ability to make a hard, firm bar of soap. No animal fat is used in our handmade soaps and natural glycerin is not extracted, unlike commercial soaps. All of our soaps are pH tested and we do not test on animals.

Bali Soap products are made in a safe, clean environment under the supervision of two chemists and are certified safe by BPOM and are also Halal certified.

Do you have a retail store?

We have a small showroom at our offices in Bali. It is very close to the airport on Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai, Jimbaran. If you are in the area please stop in for a visit anytime between 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday.

Is it safe to use Bali Soap on the face?

YES! Please do. You will find that our soap is very mild and wonderful for your skin.

Our bar and liquid soaps are safe to use on the face and the natural glycerin acts as fantastic moisturizer for skin all over your body. Some of our soaps such as cinnamon and a few of the fruit soaps include powdered rick husk which acts as an exfoliator and may be rough on more sensitive skin types. With these types of soaps we suggest rubbing the soap on your hands first and then use the lather instead of placing the bar directly on your face.

Do you sell your products wholesale?

Yes, since we first opened in 2005 our mission has been to provide great wholesale service to our customers. This includes competitive pricing, large production capacity to ensure the soaps get to you quickly, efficient packaging processes, private labels and really listing to what our international customers need for their respective markets.

Does my order include shipping fees and do you provide shipping service?

What's the difference between body lotion and body butter?

Body lotion is a light moisturizer that contains less quantity of oil than body butter, so body lotion is suitable for people that want to apply light moisturizing to skin. But for the body butter is heavy moisturizer, it is contain more oil than body lotion even body cream, and have skin repairing effect so this is suitable for people with dry skin, and chapped skin.

What's the difference between soaps that are using fragrant oils and essential oils?

Fragrant oil is synthetic oil that is man- made to imitate the natural scents of nature. Many fragrant oils can reproduce all natural scents while many essential oil or plant-derived scents are not possible to make or are too costly. Fragrant Oil Soaps are our most economically priced soaps and our customers love the variety of scents we offer.

Essential oil is made from the natural extract of the plant and therefore 100% natural. They are also more expensive and contain healing and aromatherapy benefits. All of our Essential Oil Soaps contain generous amounts of cocoa butter which makes for an extra smooth and moisturizing experience.

Is caustic soda dangerous for my skin?

This is a question everyone asks. Yes, caustic soda or sodium hydroxide which is mixed with water to make lye is indeed caustic. However, there can be no soap without lye, which is an integral ingredient in natural, cold process soap making. You will find that all natural, cold process soap must be made with sodium hydroxide which is derived from sea water to convert the long chain fatty acids of the botanical oils we use, into soap.

In a properly formulated batch of soap, there is no lye left, once the saponification process takes place it has all been consumed in the soap making process and converted to glycerin and soap. Our soaps are created with 10 % less lye than is required to convert all the fats into soap, so not only are you assured that there is no caustic lye left in the bar, but that there is also a healthy, soothing amount of pure plant oils left in the bar "as is", to remain behind on your skin after you've rinsed away the lather.

Can you ship small orders internationally?

We're sorry but we do not ship small quantities overseas. Most of our customers ship their export orders by sea freight LCL (less than container load). If your order is smaller than 1 cubic meter then you will have to ship by air freight and the cost of shipping will most likely be more than the cost of your soaps. If you u are just looking for a box or two of soaps then we will do our best to connect you with one of our customers selling in your area.

Is it possible to get an exclusive agreement to distribute your soaps in my country?

For use of our Bali Soap logo and brand we determine this on a case by case basis but we rarely offer exclusive distribution rights unless you have an organized and proven distribution network and will be able to sell significant quantities of our products.

However, we one way to ensure that you have exclusive distribution rights is to create your own brand and range of soaps. We have an in-house graphic artist who can assist you with creating your own labels. Once you have these they are exclusively yours to sell as you please.

We hope that we've answered all your questions, and shown why our soaps are a great choice. If you have any other questions please feel free to send us an email and we will be happy to answer them.
